As strange as it sounds, I like minor league baseball more than major leagues. I have been an avid baseball fan ever since I was 12. I have had the chance to attend both major and minor league games. There are quite a few reasons that I enjoy the minor leagues better than the majors. Cost, passion and the opportunity to get the player's autographs are the reasons that I prefer the minors over the majors.
I come from a middle class family. We were not poor, but there were many things that we could not afford. Being a baseball fan, I wanted to go to every game. However, my parents could not afford to take me to many of the major league games. I have to admit that I felt disappointed the first time that my parents told me that we could only go to minor league games. I soon got over that disappointment because I realized that the minors were better. The low-cost of the minor league games gives low and middle-income families a chance to enjoy a great sport.
I also noticed that minor league players are more passionate about the game that those who are in the major leagues. More often than not, players change once they become famous and start bringing in the big bucks. It becomes less about the game and more about the money. Players in the minor league are well-paid, but most of them do not do it solely for the money. They do it because they love baseball and enjoy the time that they spend on the field.
When I go to a Myrtle Beach Pelicans game, I like to get the autographs of my favorite players. It is very hard to get the autographs of major league players because they become so swamped. Everyone tries to run up and get the player's autographs at the same time. At the minor league games, it is much easier to get the player's autographs.
Having been a die-hard baseball fan ever since I was 12 years old, I could truly understand why it is called America's past time. This sport is amazing and I have enjoyed the times that I have been able to laugh with my family and enjoy this game. I am looking forward to starting a family of my own in the next few years. I am hoping that I have sons that will enjoy baseball just as much as I do. I look forward to taking them to every baseball game that I possibly can. Baseball was a great way for me and my parents to spend time together and I hoping that this sport will help me and my children bond.
I love baseball period, so I enjoy both the minor and major leagues. In my opinion, the minors are better because they are less expensive, the players are more passionate about the sport and you have a chance to get their autograph. I am really looking forward to going to my next minor league game.
